35. Monday Sept. 15--Denver at Last!

In Denver!

We were out of Montrose by 8;40, heading for Gunnison and Salida, Colorado. We wish we had stayed in Gunnison vs. Montrose as Gunnison is a really nice little, full of shops town.

Salida was a stop we made as we had been there some years ago and really liked the shopping. It is a funky old town revitalizing itself and maintaining the old style. Lots of wall murals, lots of old buildings and restaurants.

Keep and restore the past
We drove from Salida to Denver through beautiful mountains, lush with aspens in full change mode. Green, yellow and gold all around both sides. We topped out at 11.579 feet and felt the lack of oxygen.

Colorado mountains. What a 'mountain' should look like

We got to Denver @4:30 and unloaded the car. Tomorrow will be a thorough car cleaning, inside and out. We have put 7070 miles on the Honda and the interior looked like a bomb had gone off.

Plans are to chill out, see Lees family members, and get ready for Lee's brother's wedding on Sunday.

Tomorrow's blog should have pictures of the family homestead here in Denver. Really something to see in a big city and reminiscent of country forest.
