7. August 13-Glenwood Minn with the Hirscheys

A delightful day.

We spent the day with the Hirschey's in and around Glenwood, Minn on Lake Mishawaka. The town has about 3,000 folks with a small but efficient 'downtown'.

On an early walk toward town, we came to the Pope County Museum and wandered in. What a treat! It is a small museum that is very tastefully and professionally done with different rooms presenting  views of local present and past history. Early indian settlement recreations, a 1920's medical office, a dentist office (I can remember the chairs and the tools), weaponry, old telephone equipment and much more. Very interesting.

The gang in front of the wonderful museum

The dentist office with barber chair to boot.

Lee's favorite--a very old 'cord board' with coded ringing for 8 party lines. OLD and RARE!

We walked and drove around the area to visit the town park, the ski lift (installed by Dareld and another 'old fart', and local area homes. Glenwood is a wonderful location to live.

We had dinner at the Lakeside ballroom at the edge of Lake Mishawaka. Good food in a location that played host to many Big Band and smaller band orchestra's and singers.

Off tomorrow morning in a wandering journey north in Minnesota then west toward the Dakota's to see the oil fields, Paul Bunyan and Big Blue statues, then on to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
